Including the kitchen sink

God works in the strangest ways. I dropped off items yesterday at a kids' resale and saw a play kitchen that I really wanted for Ava. Many shoppers would have their chance at it before me. A friend said she would grab it for me. I had my plan in place. Before I left work she called and told me that seconds before she reached it someone else had claimed it. I was very disappointed that it was gone. Oh well I thought. Maybe I can get another one. As I am driving to the sale she calls me back. The lady changed her mind. The kitchen was mine! I am so thankful to my friend and to God. I know He was totally involved. He is always looking out for us! It is so wonderful to know he cares about even the small stuff.

Couponing!

Stopped by CVS this afternoon.  I scanned my card at the coupon machine, and it gave me $8.50 in Extra Bucks!  What a nice surprise.  I wanted to get the Jergens moisturizer to try because I am so pale.  I need some color!  They are on sale 2 for $15.  I have a $3 coupon, plus the $8.50, and $5 in ECB that I already had.  I picked up some batteries, BOGO.  I ended up paying $3.33 and got back $5 in ECB.  Love it!!!  We are getting a new store in May.  I am really looking forward to it.  I just love getting things for so little money!

Happy Shopping!

Dedication

Today was Ava's dedication at church.  We are so thankful to God for blessing us with her.  She is definitely an answered prayer!

Prayer

 Her first Bible.

We pray that God leads us as parents and that He will always be the guiding force in our daughter's life.

Party!

Ava went to a friend's first birthday party today.  She was so good.  Ava loves looking and interacting with people.  I think she gets that from her dad.  We had a great time.

It was an honor to help SJ celebrate her birthday!
Ava was sitting up so well today!
We are looking forward to celebrating lots more firsts!

Monday, Monday

My daughter is recovering from the flu.  Today I think is a turning point.  She hasn't had fever today and this afternoon was giving out a bunch of smiles!!  I was able to get a couple of loads of clothes washed and the dishwasher emptied.  That is progress!

I have a question though : what can you do with all the empty baby food jars?  I know I can recycle them, but any clever ideas?  Post a comment about your favorite re-use.  Pics are great too!  Thanks.

Reality Check

Well, I had some blood work done this week.  I found out I have an overactive thyroid, Vitamin D is low, and my triglycerides are high.  Overall,  nothing earth shattering, but it has really made me think.  To be there for the ones I love, I must take care of myself.

Loosing  a few pounds wouldn't hurt anything, so I am back on Weight Watchers.  I haven't had a soft drink all day and that is a feat for me!  I went grocery shopping today (saved fifteen dollars in coupons :) ) and tried to purchase some healthy foods.  My goal is to form new healthy habits that I can teach to my daughter.

Ignorance is not really bliss...knowing and being able to do something about it is much better.

To your good health,

Lori

Loves

Here are some of my loves.

Family and friends - what life is all about

In & Out of Time by Maya Angelou

The sun has come.
The mist has gone.
We see in the distance...
our long way home.
I was always yours to have.
You were always mine.
We have loved each other in and out of time.
When the first stone looked up at the blazing sun
and the first tree struggled up from the forest floor
I had always loved you more.
You freed your braids...
gave your hair to the breeze.
It hummed like a hive of honey bees.
I reached in the mass for the sweet honey comb there....
Mmmm...God how I love your hair.
You saw me bludgeoned by circumstance.
Lost, injured, hurt by chance.
I screamed to the heavens....loudly screamed....
Trying to change our nightmares into dreams...
The sun has come.
The mist has gone.
We see in the distance our long way home.
I was always yours to have.
You were always mine.
We have loved each other in and out
in and out
in and out
of time.
