Thanksgiving

I have never had so much to be thankful for!  First I am thankful for God's grace and salvation.  I am thankful that He gave me to loving parents that support me and taught me morals and values.  I have a great brother and sister-n-law that are always there for help and support. Michael, sorry for the times I got you in trouble when you were totally innocent! :)   I am thankful for my "Bop" and for my grandmother that is no longer here with us.  They have taught me so much.

I am thankful for my wonderful husband.  He takes such good care of me.  I have wonderful friends that I frequently get in and out of trouble with!  We stick together through thick and thin.  They make going to work so much more pleasant.  I am extremely grateful for Ava.  She is such a joy.  It was very hard for me to imagine my life without having been a mother.  Just a little over a year ago, I found out I was pregnant.  It was such a shock!  We had almost given up, but God had His plan for our lives.  We just had to be patient.

God has placed such wonderful friends and family in my life.  I hope that I can be as much of a blessing to them as they are to me.

Something I learned today: this is the proclamation George Washington made declaring the first Thanksgiving.  I think our nation would be such a better place if we still held these values.  Food for thought!

George Washington's 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation

Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me to "recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"
Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.
Given under my hand, at the city of New York, the 3d day of October, A.D. 1789.

Happy Thanksgiving, Lori

Trunk or Treat

Yesterday afternoon we took Ava to her first Halloween event, the Trunk or Treat where I work.  She looked so adorable in her costume!  She was so good.  She was just looking at all the children.

Everyone did a great job on the trunks!

We are looking forward to more family outings!

Changes

Wow!  Ava is now four months old.  It is amazing how much she has changed in such a short time.  I can't express how thankful and blessed I am to have her in my life.

Friendship

Today I went to lunch with several friends to celebrate my and another co-worker's birthday.  Having friends and family is what it is all about.  They make the good times better and the bad times bearable.  I am so blessed to have such wonderful people in my life.

Saturday

This morning Shon, Ava, and I went to Wal-mart for groceries.  Shon pushed Ava around the store in the stroller while I shopped. She loves looking around. Then this afternoon, my mom, grandmother, and I took Ava to pick out pumpkins.  She was a little more interested in the straw and her feet!

Making it

Well, I have no pictures to show of my great success.  Room is still a mess.  This week I haven't felt well and between that and taking care of Ava - oh well.  Ava has been really fussy today.  In fact she just woke up and it's time to eat.  Pray I can get my house in order, because it is really starting to get me down.

I'm a Mess!

I  desire to have that home that always is clean and organized.   However, I have never had it and it is my own fault.  I can get it clean, but it just doesn't stay that way.  I don't follow through.  Wash and dry the clothes, but there they sit in the dryer. Which now means ironing.  Wash, dry, fold the clothes, but they don't make it to the closet or the drawer.

This week, I just want to get my bedroom straight.  I was going to post a picture of it, but to be honest, I am too embarrassed.  My plan is to do little bits everyday.  I will post my daily projects with my goal to be straight by Friday.  Then if I can just keep it up.  Hold me accountable!

Let's hope for the best and see what happens!
